What is copaiba resin?
It is an oleoresin tapped from Copaifera trees. It naturally contains both a volatile essential-oil fraction and a heavier resin fraction.
Is copaiba resin the same as copaiba essential oil?
No. Essential oil is the distilled volatile fraction, while oleoresin contains both volatile and nonvolatile constituents. Research on one form cannot automatically be applied to the other.
Does it treat acne?
No cosmetic ingredient profile should make that claim. Some topical and laboratory studies are encouraging, but results depend on the exact species, extract, concentration, and formula.
Can it heal scars or wounds?
A combination gel containing copaiba has been studied, but that does not prove copaiba resin alone heals wounds or removes scars. Cosmetics should be positioned for appearance and conditioning only.
