How It Works

Silica particles present a high-surface-area structure that can adsorb oil into and across their pores. Oil-control capacity varies substantially according to porosity, pore size, surface topology, and any coating applied to the particles.

The particles can also scatter light and alter friction at the skin surface, producing a blurred appearance and a silky feel. Silica does not permanently shrink pores or stop sebaceous glands from producing oil.
